East Winds Inc. - A tax exempt, not for profit 501c3
East Winds, Inc. is actively involved with concerts and educational programs in the community under the names Taikoza and East Winds Ensemble. The organization also sponsors or presents Japanese music concerts by individual artists.
Its mission is:
To advance public interest in and understanding of Japanese and other Asian music and performing Arts;
To expose the public to music from Japan and other Asian countries through workshops, performances and production of new works incorporating elements of Asian music.
To provide musicians with a forum to expose their work to the public and
To conduct any and all lawful activities which may be useful in accomplishing the foregoing activities.
East Winds, Inc. has been presenting Taikoza (Japanese drum group), East Winds Ensemble (Japanese traditional music) throughout New York City. East Winds, Inc. presents more than 70 concerts a year in New York City ranging from school educational performances (in public and private schools in the 5 boroughs) to regular theatre performances. East winds, Inc also presents a series of free concerts in city parks during the summer.
East Winds, Inc. has presented groups from Japan in 2001,2002, 2003,2004 in concerts in New York City as well as in other US cities.
In 2005, Taikoza performed at Madison Square Garden for televised Sumo tournament, increasing exposure for the group Taikoza.
Taikoza also presented programs at Grand Central Station part of a promotion for the city of Tokyo. Taikoza performed recently at Symphony Space and Isham Park in Inwood. The group also tours extensively in US and internationally
Donations are Tax exempto to the extend of the law- we take credit card, check or cash- Please support our programs as grant monies are little by little dwindling to support our educational programs.
